We love our customers and solving problems for real people. Seeing the smile on one of our customer’s faces when you’ve implemented a time-saver or a solution to a business problem gives real satisfaction.

The role:

Shopventory is looking for a Sr. Front End Engineer with strong React skills to join our team. You’ll help build products that customers love, be an advocate for the front end and mentor other engineers.

We’re a small team, you’ll work directly with senior leadership and receive useful feedback from our customers on a regular basis. Taking lessons learned from previous SaaS applications, you’ll have an opportunity to champion front end best practices and lead front end architecture as we design solutions at scale.

In this role, you will help architect, build and scale the next generation of our web and mobile products by designing and implementing new features, enhancements and optimizations.

  • Work cross functionally with product leadership, design, and other teams to deliver the best possible experience for the customer.
  • Mentor team members and, if you'd like, lead occasional technology related teaching sessions
  • Implement rich, interactive features using modern CSS/HTML/JavaScript & React
  • Help upgrade our core AngularJS product and features (which we are migrating to React).
  • Champion code quality, reusability, consistency standards, DRY mentality throughout the company.
  • Act as a bridge between engineering and design, helping both designers and engineers understand the possibilities of their work.
  • Identify areas of improvement and advocate for front-end end best practices.
  • Own our front-end experience activities including UI development, testing, and support of complex web applications.

Our tech stack:

  • Python
  • Django framework
  • PostgresSQL relational database
  • AngularJS (legacy), React, JavaScript, and CSS/HTML front-end
  • Containerized deployments (Docker & Kubernetes on GCP)
  • Linux and MacOS

Requirements

You truly care about design, HTML/CSS/UX and bridging the gap between front-end development and design. You are an advocate for front-end best practices and standards (including ADA standards). You know what it takes to design, build and scale a React based application for a fast growing SaaS company.

The person in this position must be a great communicator, possess an eye for detail (you see things others don’t notice), enjoy collaborating, mentoring and solving tough problems to delight customers.

We don’t care if you went to college but would like you to have experience and a passion for creating user friendly designs and delightful experiences.

  • 5+ years professional experience as a Front-end Developer, ideally in a SaaS environment
  • In-depth understanding of CSS, JavaScript and React with the ability to write semantic HTML
  • Ability to write SCSS without a CSS library and deal with complex layout challenges and limitations.
  • Experience interacting with a REST API.
  • Ability to implement best practices for React, AngularJS and ES6+ frameworks.
  • Understand BEM naming conventions.
  • Share the philosophy that accessibility is not and should not be an afterthought.
  • A love of coding and a passion for continued learning in the latest web and cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of version control.
  • Ability to take ownership and initiative to identify issues and fix them or communicate them to the team.
  • A design background is not necessary, but definitely a plus to advocate for development concerns.
