Demand Inc. (founded in San Francisco; 90+ people) is a sales development company that is investing in technology to take the lead generation industry by storm. We support world leading startups, technology companies (E.g., Google, AWS, HP), professional sports teams (E.g., New York Mets), and the most prestigious consulting and venture capital firms in Silicon Valley. We launched our first product, Lasso, last month, and have successful market traction. Lasso is a SaaS sales prospecting platform used by Business Development Reps to find leads, built on VueJS & Laravel. We’ve got 20 customers already signed up, with more being added weekly! We're also adding a second product, to be shipped in the new year.

How this role fits in

We're adding a senior engineer to our engineering team to help support our next growth milestone by scaling our first product, Lasso, and adding a second product. We're looking for a Senoir Backend Engineer for a long term fully-remote contract. You'll lead an independent software development team with full-autonomy (Senior Dev, Full-stack Dev, Contract Dev, +more as we build the team) with the added support of a larger company.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of PHP (Laravel) object-oriented web app development

  • 3+ years' experience working in product teams with a product manager, designer, and engineers

  • 3+ years of Node.js

  • Solid understanding of MySQL and Redis

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proactive, self-starter, while managing your own workload

  • Fluent English skills

  • Work hours US - Pacific Time Zone

  • Bonus: you've scaled up with a team from 3 engineers to 15+ engineers

What you'll be doing

  • Writing web services and APIs used by front-end developers, including:
    • server-side web application logic
    • integration of the front-end
    • development of the database structure
    • optimization of queries to the database
    • development and support of additional micro-services
  • Code reviews
  • Setting dev-estimate expectations with the PM
  • Keeping team members in the loop
  • Performing root-cause analysis on bugs
  • Communicating work / doing dev day demos
  • Development documentation
  • Working together with frontend dev, UX design, and product management to create innovative solutions to user pain points
  • Production deployment
